Guys! I am writing a book!! Ahhh! I am so excited. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. I feel like the Lord is leading me to take this blog in the direction of Bible study and sharing my life through my faith, and I am willing to follow!! So, put on your seat-belts and let’s get started!
We will be starting a new series for the rest of October and all of November on thankfulness and contentment. I think this is SO important, ya’ll. It might be one of the most important things we can learn in our walk with the Lord. And, it is an area that I feel the Lord is really working in my life. I am writing this book not just for you, but for me too.
It is so easy to fall into the trap of discontentment and covetousness, so easy. Especially when you are walking through something like infertility, like Josh and I are. When you want something so badly –like we do a child– it becomes all you can think about. I’m just going to be honest here. It is hard to celebrate when other people have what you are praying for every single day. It hurts your feelings when someone says anything remotely negative about it. It is hard to pretend that it doesn’t upset you or worry you that you will never have it. You cry about it. You get mad about it. You yell at God about it. It takes over your life. Completely.
And to be honest with you, it dishonors God when we do that because it says that we don’t trust him. God is in control. He has a plan, and it is going to be better than anything you and I could EVER imagine. His timing will be perfect– He is rarely early, but He is never late. And, someday, when we see the whole picture, it will all make perfect sense. And when we are discontent and feel that we cannot be happy if we don’t get what we want, it tells God that we don’t trust His plan or timing and our plan is better than His.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to dishonor God. I don’t want to live my life in this state of discontent. I want to be happy and joyful in the waiting– dare I say, even if He decides that I will wait forever? I want to trust in the Lord. I want to be content right where I am. Don’t you?
Over the next month and a half, we will will be studying contentment and gratitude. We will take time everyday to thank God for the things in our life, big or small. We will learn what contentment is, and what it isn’t. I believe that if we take the time to develop an attitude of gratitude, our lives will be so much better! We will be happier, healthier and at peace. We will worry less and praise God more. Our marriages will get better. Our work life will get better. We will have more energy and a better outlook on life. I am so excited to go on this journey.
